Clash Detection Services for BIM Models
The occurrence of clashes is quite common in the multidisciplinary organization while working on the same project. At MaRS Trans USA, there are various design teams, like architectural, structural, and MEP involved in the BIM project. When multiple teams work on separate project systems, the arousal of clashes is normal.
Our team of professionals has expertise in addressing clashes and helping nullify them to make the model error-free and easy to execute. It also helps reduce the overall project cost due to the low possibility of future updates and modifications. The AEC industry has been profiting from the expertise of our professionals in clash identification using software like BIM 360, navisworks, etc.
Clash detection using BIM helps in expediting the projects by recognizing clashes between different models during the design phase. It helps contractors and architects reduce the possibility of multi-level design alterations that can lead to budget overshoot and delays in project completion.
The BIM clashes can be classified into three categories:
Hard Clash
When two or more elements occupy the same space or they seem to be interacting with each other then the hard clash takes place in BIM. The hard clashes get identified easily by conducting geometry-based analysis and following standards enlisted in the BIM objects. We coordinate with the design creator to get a review of the calculations.
Soft Clash
The clashes that are found in geometrics tolerances of design are classified as soft errors. We usually identify them by having a look at building standards and regulations pre-saved in the BIM application. Our professionals resolve such clashes by revisiting building standards and making reformation accordingly.
Workflow Clash
The workflow clashes emerge due to conflicts of information in the scheduling process. Our team resolves the timeline conflicts efficiently which results in the timely availability of work and material as per the schedules.
Our Process
We follow a 5 step mechanism for clash detection and mitigation. Our team of professionals prepares a thoroughly processed clash detection report using BIM to avoid future modifications at the building stage.
- Uploading all the design models, linking them all together, and generating an integrated model.
- Conducting a clash scan on coordinated BIM Model.
- Importing the data of major clashes containing information regarding status details, description, and conditions concerned with their levels.
- Creating a multi-disciplinary clash report and sharing it with the design owner.
- Repeating the clash detection process to ensure the resulting outcome is full-poof.
Why is the clash detection process crucial?
- Analyzing the structural and functional integrity of a structure
- Seizing of clashes in scheduling
- Efficient facility management
- Saving time and money by preventing design changes at the execution stage
- Negligible possibility of human error
- Solid emphasis on building standards and regulation
